This issue has been resolved. :)

Update: 09/09/09 8:30am PDT

We've received many reports of players receiving the message "Logging Into Game Server" when attempting to log into their primary play realms. This is an issue we are presently investigating and appears to be only affecting battlegroups Stormstike and Nightfall. If you're uncertain if your realm belongs to one of these battlegroups, you may check the following list: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/battlegroups/

If you are experiencing this issue and wish to assist our efforts, we're presently requesting traceroutes within the following thread (linked below). Instructions for performing a trace route may be found here: http://us.blizzard.com/support/article.xml?articleId=21230, and results of your trace route should be posted here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=19820322362&sid=1

With that said, thank you for your ongoing patience and the constructive feedback you continue to provide. You've all my most sincere apologies that your game play has been hindered by this issue and my assurance that this matter remains a priority for our staff.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello guys!

Thank you for your rapid response! Fortunately, we're aware of the issues affecting Nightfall, Stormstrike and Retaliation battlegroup realms (if you aren't certain which battlegroup you're on, you can check here: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/battlegroups/)

Our staff are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible, and should any updates become available, we'll provide them as soon as we can.

Please keep discussion in this thread productive, and refrain from posting multiple threads on the topic.

Thank you for your patience while we work to get everything running smoothly once again!

The people fixing the problem and the people telling us that someone is fixing the problem are often not the same people.

Correct! Pretty much never, really.

That being said, I won't have a new update until one is provided, but I am awaiting information as we speak. We do not currently have an ETA available though, and I am sorry about that. I am glad to see that some realms appear to be available, but I haven't received word that the issue at large is resolved yet.

I'd like to express my thanks to those of you that have contributed calmly and constructively! We'll do everything possible can to get you back into the game as fast as we can.

Q u o t e:
And sorry for making you do the extra cleanup, Mal.

Don't sweat it ♥!

Nothing really to update folks except that you've not been forgotten and this is still being looked into.

This is primarily impacting Stormstrike and Nightfall Battle Groups.

Q u o t e:
So far, I like the suggestion that whatever hiccup in the battlegroups banned specific IPs from the servers they were on at the time. Since our router assigns IPs dynamically, reseting it essentially gave me a new IP and I was able to log in.

Just an FYI, Blizz, to help you trace the problem.

Well, part of the issue earlier was connectivity issues out on the net. If you can refresh your DNS and route around that, that may be helpful - but I've not yet been officially informed of that.

Surely cannot hurt to try. If you find that is successful, please do let us know.

Attempted this twice, with not avail. So I do not know if your lucky or I'm dumb or neither and its a random act of nature ^_^.

Even when refreshing DNS works, it can sometimes take a few attempts. Really depends on the nature of a blockage and where it is in relation to you and the realm, sometimes there simply is no way around it, or the refresh assigns you back to the same path.

Are you using the biohazard symbol on those, Kayrus?

That's all you need to do to report those and they'll get cleaned up, thanks!

Stop giving them a scapegoat to fixing the issue. >_>

They are still looking into this, Raven, and it may be connectivity coming into us, which is actually outside our doorstep.

But in any case, this is still being investigated. Some are reporting that flushing their DNS to get a new route is helping, others not so much - but something that may be worth a try.

I did a trace route and from what i have seen from other trace routes found on this thread http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=19820412015&sid=1 it definetly appears to be blizzard' end. my pings stop right at their doorstep.

That is what is being looked into, Batboy.

Just for good measure folks, along with trying a DNS flush, if you delete your Cache folder, I would be interested to hear if that seems to make any difference.

I'm unsure why it seems to be helping some and not others, Ammunra, I'm so very sorry.

The Cache folder is one of the trinity usually involved in a reset UI, it's in with your WoW files.

Instructions to flush a DNS are in this FAQ, although there are other ways to do it as well.

I don't know allot about trace this and that but I find it hard to imagine that it continues to affect certain people, once, then it works, then down again, and it works, now down for how many hours, and have it be something on our end, all the same people, while others are playing there life away.

Not so much your end, but on the route you are taking to the realm, at least....in some cases.

Good morning, everyone.

Brief status update: Issues affecting connectivity for many players to several realms on battlegroups Stormstike and Nightfall remain under investigation at this time. We're presently pursuing one possible resolution and have since restarted Dentarg as part of this process (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=19820632445&sid=1). If you play on Dentarg, your feedback is appreciated. :)

With that said, thank you to those who have remained both civil and constructive, and to Serilis, who has worked diligently over the night assisting his/her fellow players. You've all my most sincere apologies that your game play has been hindered by this issue and my assurance that this matter remains a priority for our staff.

As always, should I receive any further updates, I will relay them to you as quickly as possible.

Please let us know how the Dentarg restart went as soon as you know.

On this note, I'm going to actually raise the question once more for our fellow Dentargians. Dentargeans. Dentargans. Denta—well, you get the picture. :)

For those of you who play on Dentarg:

    1) Are you able to connect to this realm at this time?
    2) If yes, can you remain online without being disconnected?
    3) Is your game play hindered in any way or do you experience any form of persistent latency?

Thank you for any feedback you're able and/or willing to provide.

Regarding the feedback you each have provided regarding your experiencing logging into and playing on Dentarg: Thank you! Relaying this information to our technicians now.

Also, as a recap, we're currently investigating connectivity issues for realms on battlegroups Stormstrike and Nightfall. If you're uncertain if your realm belongs to one of these battlegroups, you may check the following list: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/battlegrounds/battlegroups/

Thank you, Santristina! Please note that those of you who are affected are not required to provide a trace route; this is simply an optional request we're putting out there to gather more information. :)

Small update: We're aware that, for some, access to primary play realms has been restored; however, we also know that this issue still persists for many of you. We're continuing our investigation and efforts and will work to keep you updated along the way.

With this, we're aware of the severe latency which has just begun to affect all realms on battlegroups Stormstrike and Nightfall and are working to address that ASAP. If you were moved offline as a result of this latency, please accept my apologies and know that the issue is already being looked into by our technicians.

Message received at login (if any):
Whether or not you are still able to access other realms: Yes/No

Thanks!
