Q: Will there be a downtime between the seasons?
A: There should be no downtime between Arena Season 1 and Arena Season 2. Arena Season 2 is planned to start the week right after Arena Season 1 ends.
Q: Are there different rewards for the second season?
A: There are plans to update all Arena items with each new Arena season. The items for Arena Season 2 are already done and ready to go.
Q: Will it be possible to save arena points for the next season?
A: Players will be able to save up to 5.000 Arena points at any one time, and currently we do not plan to reset these points with the start of a new Arena Season.
Q: Please explain a bit more who will receive the Netherdrake.
A: The top 0.5% of the teams of each bracket will receive the Netherdrake epic flying mount, as well as the top Arena title. This means that the top 0.5% of the teams in the 2v2 bracket, the top 0.5% of the teams in the 3v3 bracket, and the top 0.5% of the teams in the 5v5 bracket will all receive the Netherdrake and the title.
Every player on these top teams who has played at least 20% of the total games of the team for the Arena Season will receive these rewards.
Q: What ranks can we earn?
A: There will be 4 titles total for players to earn. The ranking needed for each Arena title is as follows: (Rankings are based by Battlegroup):
% - .5%: Gladiator (and Armoured Nether Drake sent in mail)
.5% - 3%: Duelist
3% - 10%: Rival
10% - 35%: Challenger
Q: Will the teams qualified for the tournament also receive a Netherdrake?
A: This in-game Arena Season is completely separate from the Arena Tournament. Tournament qualifiers will
not receive a Netherdrake mount by default.
Q: When does the first season end? When will the second season start?
A: The end date for the first season isn't currently set. We will let you know about two weeks in advance before the start of the second season.
Q: How do I disband a team?
A: Only the captain can disband a team, by typing /teamdisband XvX where X states what size the team is (2v2, 3v3 or 5v5). You will lose the rating for the team, but not the arena points earned for your character.
Q: Why aren’t shamans allowed to use their fire/earth elemental totems?
A: All cooldowns under 15 minutes are allowed. This means shamans can use Bloodlust for example, but not the elementals since they are on a 20 minute cooldown.
Q: Can you add a team member after the season started and will he get ranked according to the team's accomplishments?
A: Yes. The rating is tied to the team, not each individual member. As such, if a person leaves a team, he/she will lose his/her rating, but will not lose any arena points that have already been accumulated.
Q: Is there an Arena Team Master (like Guild Master) who can kick other members at will?
A: Yes. The player that creates the team is the team leader.
Q: If you are within the top 0,5% in several brackets (e.g. 2v2 and 5v5), do you receive 2 different titles and 2 mounts?
A: It is the same title regardless of the bracket, so the player would only have 1 new title. However, they should get 2 mounts in the mail.
Q: Do you have to learn the riding skill for the armoured Netherdrake or will you receive it with the mount?
A: The mount requires 300 riding skill in order to use.
Q: How are Arena points awarded for the different teams?
A: Arena points are awarded on a weekly basis, but will be tallied and awarded during the maintenance.
The award amounts have been adjusted slightly and break down in the following fashion:
5v5 matches will award a full allotment of arena points.
3v3 matches will award 80% of the allotment.
2v2 matches will award 60% of the allotment.
Q: What are the costs for the arena charters?
A:
2v2- 80g
3v3- 120g
5v5- 200g
Q: I can’t turn in my arena charter, what can I do?
A: Some players are having problems turning in their charter if it is not in a slot in their main backpack. Try putting it there since it seems that is where the system is looking for it.
Q: To get the maximum of arena points, do you have to participate in all 3 formats?
A: You only gain points each week from the team that would give you the most points that week, so you don’t have to participate in all 3 teams to get the maximum of arena points.
Q: Why do you handle it this way? Why do you not add all the arena points together from all the formats?
A: If we combine your points from all three formats, then we'd be forced to balance the rate at which you gain rewards around the expectation that you're doing all 3 formats to the best of your competitive ability. Instead, we'd rather allow you to be "serious" about one of the formats and have the option to take the others less seriously if you so choose.
Q: What’s about a spectator mode for arenas? Will this be implemented at all?
A: We would love to have a way for others to be able to watch arena matches. It's something we are looking into but don't have any more on that at this point in time. We realise that being able to cheer on your favourite team or your guild mates is always something people want to be able to do we just need to decide on how best to make something like that happen.
Q: Are Crowd Control abilities handled differently in arenas?
A: Crowd Control abilities in arenas are exactly the same as they are in any PvP situation. CC doesn't work in PvP quite the same as it does in PvE already. It hasn't changed anymore than that though.
Q: Why are poisons allowed in the arena and sharpening stones are not?
A: Poisons are an integral part of the rogue class, some talents also rely on their use. It is part of the rogue class, while a sharpening stone is simply a damage addition to any blade user.
There are also a few different arena calculators out there, for example the following:
