6 deaths below 5k overkill. I wish I lived in a bubble where 5k health doesn't matter too.

There is a lot of evidence that the encounter is challenging. There isn't a lot of evidence that the guilds making it past the heroic Northrend Beasts are doing it with bad druids and paladins tanking.

I think the issue is that good warriors and DK's are being benched for good paladins and druids. If you are one of two tanks of approximately equal skills, being benched for the guy with the superior class isn't fun.

Except this isn't really happening. As far as we can tell, what is happening is players struggle to beat a challenging encounter for which they are generally undergeared and then (some) come to the conclusion that they would have beaten it with a paladin or perhaps druid tanking.

But the sample size is still small.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that the community is highly skeptical of any, and all of your evidence surrounding tanking trends

Okay, but then there's not much point in my participating in this discussion then.

I don't get how this comment is helpful at all, it's almost as if you're mocking people.

How exactly do you test for "bad-ness" amongst the player base as a dev?

I am reading a lot of "Man, this encounter is hard." I agree. But that is then followed with "But if we had a paladin tanking, we would be done by now." I don't agree with that.

It's fine to speculate about the advantages paladins might have on the fight. But you can't extrapolate from there to "Therefore, most of the raids who have beaten the fight used a paladin," or even "Many of the raids were struggling on the fight until they switched to a paladin, and then they beat it easily."

You can beat this fight with any of the 4 tanking classes, assuming reasonable skill and gear. If you lack the gear, which it's safe to say everyone pretty much does, then you need to step it up in skill until you get better gear.

As a raid leader and MT for all of wrath pre-nerf I tanked all the big bad guys. Now I place our paladin on IceHowl and let him stack high on impales instead of me. Why? Because he CAN'T die! Why the hell wouldn't I put him in the MT spot instead of myself? Honestly this IS happening just not with the super guild you are tracking. Sheesh.

So you are saying that you beat heroic beasts with a paladin tank but not with any other tank?

See right now this is the problem. It doesn't take the same gear as a paladin/druid than a warrior/DK to succeed in doing the encounter with the same chance to win. It wouldn't be a problem if the difference was smaller, but again, as Shig, I died A LOT of times where I would have survived being a paladin with the same gear.

Did you beat the encounter with a paladin tank?
