Waiting for files to close? How long?

This piece of crap patch is stuck at some "waitiing for files to close" screen, and has been for awhile. I've read some of the other threads and I do not understand any of the advice given in them. I am not computer-savvy beyond knowing how to turn them on.

IN PLAIN ENGLISH, please describe how to fix this.

BTW, I tried calling tech support and got a "our hold queue is full and we cannot take your call" response. Wonderful. Bunch of unprepared, unprofessional fumblers.
