Why play wow

hi iv been playing wow for about a year now and really like competing in BG's, but what i want to know is as all new patches blizz brings out are centered on raids and arenas, whats the appeal of WOW for those of us who do not like doing raids and arenas. dont get me wrong i love the game and will stick with it but would like to see blizz give the rest of us the chance to optain high lvl gear without raiding.
