Patchwerk exploit

I play on the Twilight Hammer realm, where a guild recently killed Patchwerk, using the kitting-method. Then a topic was started on our realm forums, where people stated that it was an exploit. I have myself heard the same, that this method was an exploit, because you avoid certain aspects of the fight.
But then a screen shot was posted (The screen shot http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gmlz4.jpg), where a GM stated that it wasn't an exploit at all, and that kiting "was a valid tactic".
I have a for some time ago seen a blue post stating the exact opposite, that it was an exploit and a guild had been banned doing it.
I don't have that blue reply anymore, so it might have been hoax of some sort.

So my question is: Is avoiding the hatefull strikes in the patchwerk fight an exploit, or not?

Blue response would be very much appriciated.

All questions regarding exploits needs to be directed to the Game Master team through in-game topic. The forum is not and will not ever be the right place for it.
