It depends what you want to play, You can easily get maces with +int and +stam and also +agi +str etc...
All totally up to you. I'v always had a varity of staves and maces all the way though leveling. Just depends on the stats really.
I was almost about to say the same thing, so I will give this post a QFT :-)

True... I would really like to have that staff myself, but unfortunately for me it hasn't dropped yet :-)
