ok so i have had patch 4.0.6 since release. today im trying to get on, and it is downloading patch 4.0.6 again from what i can tell. is anyone else going through this? not sure what im downloading i guess

Today we released the 4.1 patch. After you've patched up, it should say this on the title bar of the Launcher / News window, and in the bottom left corner of the login screen:

4.1.0.13914
