They're being attacked by 6 mobs, ganked by 2 of the opposite faction, etc.

Do you stop to help these people, or just keep doing what you were doing?

Only if I was reasonably sure I had a chance at surviving, but yes, I'll always stop and help someone as long as its not immediately apparent that I'm going to die from it.
