Well good going. You have hired some remarkable composers and I sit in each zone with loop music on thoroughly distracted from everything else going on in the World (of Earth) whilst being uterly moved by each piece that begins.
Haha. I can certainly relate. In fact, just last night, while I was exploring the changes to Ashenvale on one of my higher-level characters, I was so riveted by the music near Raynewood Retreat, that I didn't notice when a pair of fledgling druids ran up behind me and started munching on one of my legs. (Unfortunately for the druids, my music-induced hypnosis was interrupted by a well-timed sneeze.)
I'll be sure to relay on your impressions to our Sound team, though. They poured quite a bit of sweat, tears, and passion into the soundtrack for World of Warcraft: Cataclysm and would certainly appreciate your feedback.
On that note, if you haven't already, be sure to check out
BlizzCast #15 (
http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/community/blizzcast/archive/episode15.html). We were able to sit down with Director of Audio, Russell Brower, and Senior Composer & Sound Designer, Derek Duke. It's a great interview, particularly if you're curious how the melodies for Cataclysm came to be. :)
