In patch 3.0.2. I loved our AOE. I must admit it was a little OP with the mana return. Last night we did kara and when using AOE I started to feel like an OOMKIN. Blizzard did a great job in giving us AOE abilities but crippled us in it's use. The mana cost is too much and has basically undone all their efforts. No point in getting gale winds as AOE mana cost is too high now. I would rather spend those points elsewhere.
I hope they fix this.
