I was wondering if this is a issue of some sort or do I simply have to wait some amount of time before the purchase of my game time is reflected in my forum posting permission. It's been about an hour since I re-upped my subscription.

Looks like this older named license is good on time.

This is likely just an update issue. I'd give it a little time, as well as make sure you've cleared your cookies and cache just to rule out a browser caching issue.

Now, they have been doing quite a bit of work backend on our forums recently - it isn't outside the realm of possibility it could be the website itself, but this is the first report I've seen, if so.

Possibly. We see this more in things like the store where old info can get hung - say you tried to sign on during a maintenance, but it can happen here on the forums as well.
