Why did Anduin remove his mask?

I've seen a lot of back and forth about how he's a bad/good leader and much of it focusses on him removing/loosing his mask during the battle, with some saying that it proves he's a bad leader because he could have gotten killed, others saying it's fine as he was protected by the light, but you're forgetting something...

It's a cinematic, we want to see the reactions/thoughts/emotions of the characters, which is impossible to see behind a mask.

So why did Anduin remove his mask? For the Audience!
