Seems like a total waste of time trying to integrate WoW with all these social media things. I play the game to take a break from "real life", not merge the two.

What other unnecessary integrations could be next?!

-Coming soon...read your emails while in game! We've partnered with all the big email providers! Your emails can now get delivered to the ingame mailbox, so you can read that important letter from your boss, while in Dalaran!

-Coming soon...file your income tax in game! Yes, we've got the Income tax software linked to your in-game WoW account. Now you can work on your taxes while you wait in queue for a dungeon. But don't try to write off more deductions than you are allowed, or else an in-game boss will spawn at your location to remind you, in a not-so-friendly way!

-Over 55? Living alone? Playing Wow? The Medic Alert integration is just what you need! Our behind the scenes algorithms monitor your playing habits, and if you suddenly stop moving in game, we contact you through your Medic Alert system! Ok, so maybe you did just go afk to get a cookie, better to be safe than sorry!

To each their own on this topic. Many folks want to connect with their real-life friends and have a way to share their achievements and moments with others easily.

The forum community really isn't who these features are targeted towards, so the sentiment you'll see around here will more than likely agree. In that vein, if you don't want to use social features, good news: you don't have to! You can go about your day as normal. :)

Share their achievements with others? Dude, are you aware that most of the gamers are bashed by "Normies" and made their life impossible, bullying them into suicidal thoughts?
This is cruel.
Name checks out.

OT: If you follow our communities that exist on social sites, they are super inclusive and supportive, and these features are actively used by those folks. I haven't encountered any 'gamer' hostility in years, especially as geek/nerd lifestyles have become more mainstream.
