[target = player] does not work for me

/cast [target=player] Devour Magic

I have it exactly like this in my macro. I have deleted and added it several times.

I have deleted my WTF and WDB files twice.

I have removed all 3rd party add ons.

I have deleted my entire addons folder.

The only thing I haven't done is reinstalled, which I would rather avoid..............


The macro *works* but I have to self target myself to make it work on myself. If I press it with no target selected it fails with "No Target" error. If I cast it with a target selected it works on the target selected and never on ME.

The problem is that I just want it to do what it says: TARGET ME DAMMIT!!

Please let me know if you figure this out. I just tested it myself and it worked fine, and I stepped through the code and I can't see any way that the target of the spell wouldn't be the player.
