I just tried to log on and was prompted to download patch 2.0.8, it has something to do with an aena display issue. Now I get the "Unable to validate game version" message when I log in.

As the Tech Support post said, the game servers are being updated with a small patch to address issues with the upcoming arena ranking system when the matches go live tomorrow. Should be resolved shortly.
