Prior to formating my system, I had downloaded the burning expansion.

I have WoW installed, via the trial download (which lacks the BC expansion in it).

Using the link provided when trying to log in, http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/download/

"We will be offering a direct download of the Burning Crusade expansion at a future date in time. Please keep an eye on the main website for more details."

You can login and download the expansion from our online upgrade page, of course you have to have already purchased the expansion and upgraded your account accordingly to play it. Which can also be done on that page if you haven't yet done so.

If you've lost your CD's though I would recommend having them replaced appropriately: http://www.blizzard.com/support/wow/?id=aww01667p
