This thread could go in many diferent places, so if its better off in another area, please move it there.

The issue is the white item [Lucky Charm] thottbot link : http://www.thottbot.com/?i=8877

It is gotten by pickpocketing and used in leatherworking. I had never seen one before and so did research, where I found this (to me its quite amazing) :

http://vnboards.ign.com/WoW_General_Board/b19789/88658383/?5

and comments such as :

"Data suggest that Lucky Charms in you backpack do seem to improve your roll odds. I wonder if more than 2 charms makes it better."\

Which brings me to my question / plea for help.

Im making a macro that will /roll and add it to a variable. Then I can get the average easily for 1000+ /rolls to see if this really IS a lucky charm or a myth. Then I will post the macro and you can try it for yourself.

For function and event reference I use http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warcraft_API

Im basically stuck at how to /roll in a macro at the moment. Will post results if / when I can get this to work.

While I don't want to deter you from a project in which you think there is value, I also feel that I could help you from spending an inordinate amount of time trying to test this matter.

People used to say the same thing about the rabbit's foot that drops off of beasts.

The /random generator is not affected by items in one's inventory.

I have the feeling none of what I say may actually deter anyone from continuing to believe that a lucky charm in one's inventory will help things.

Carry on.
