All of your bolded comments only refer to the fact that the competitive-based structure is being changed and that current standing can not be translated into an equatable amount in the new system. Everyone will basically start at zero honor points, but the same rewards will be available.
Honor points will still be used to purchase trinkets, consumables, mounts etc. as before, but the Arena point system will have another set of rewards seperate from the Honor system. Arena points will allow access to high-end armor, mostly, with stats and bonuses that are aimed more toward PvP.
