Blizzard’s anti-cheating software scans do not access web browser histories. The World of Warcraft executable (WoW.exe) and the Blizzard Launcher (Launcher.exe) use a standard operating system API called WinInet (also used by Internet Explorer) to display the Breaking News and the World of Warcraft news items that appear when the game is launched. The browsing history and cookie accesses are performed by this Windows API itself, not by World of Warcraft or any of our anti-cheating measures. The history and cookie data that WinInet accesses is for its own use and is not transmitted to, nor collected by, Blizzard Entertainment.
