How did the Casual vs. Raiders even start?

It's been here as long as anyone can remember. I feel reasonably objectional...and have wondered why no matter what happens, its like drawing party lines in congress. Then the PvPers have their say so...and no matter what the post is about, it seems to always end there, one way or the other. One side casts the first stone, then the other retaliates, then whichever is left out jumps in to stoke the fire a little. What is this anyway? Hattfields and McCoys or a game?

It's a carry-over from previous games which had a more select and dedicated player base. The thing that happened with World of Warcraft is that it moved the boundaries of accessiblity and ease of play to include people who had never before played an MMO.

So, what we ended up with was the experienced MMO player camp who were familiar with concepts and environments that were being iterated on from successive MMOs and the camp that was new to the genre and felt that the game should be accessible to more players by treating content evenly, with limited investment for access.
