#52 - Sept. 12, 2007, 7:30 p.m.
Since I wrote up a reply to your attempt to revive the topic in another thread before it was moderated (go mod squad!) I thought I might as well post it any way.
Q u o t e:
"Yeah, sorry, I'm not going to let a thread live that even implies that we purposefully release incorrect information to placate any one, let alone use it as an opening statement."
How would explain this then:
"Ok, there isn't a #8, so I'll just insert my own note. I know that many of you are feeling like mages will be a "nerfed" class in the expansion. However, I think it's worth pointing out that in all of the testing we've done so far, the mage has been the clear-cut top damage class in the expansion at level 70, even against single targets (hopefully not too much so)"
Its obviosly not true. Was done to quell anger that mages felt that they werent going to do as much damage as they did Pre-BC. I feel my first statement was valid because of exactly this quote.
You're trying to apply a statement made at one time, to apply to all time. It just doesn't work like that.
There's a separation of intent that's very important when accusing someone of lying.
Go read the manual, there are features and statements made throughout the World of Warcraft manual that just no longer hold true. Did we lie? Of course not, they were true and intended when it was printed. Are they true now? Of course not, as development moves forward and classes, items, and features and continually developed and balanced around each other changes will be made. Philosophies change, ideas change, new thoughts and opinions are brought up. The game doesn't stand still because someone said something once.
Now sure you could say that the intent was to mislead players, to lie, to purposefully provide false information to meet some goal.
I say that's not what happened, and that's not what we do. If you choose to argue that point with me I'll kindly ask you to leave these forums. I don't appreciate our communication being spun that way, and I'm not going to see it done.
