Rating req. apply to season 2 items?

When season 3 rolls out, will the rating requirement for the shoulders and weapons apply to the season 2 items? I think it would be unfair if it did, but I would like to know now. I want to buy the season 2 shield since I know I wont have high enough rating for the season 3 one, but I'd rather wait for the price to drop next week ... but I gotta get it now if the rating req. is going to apply to season 2 items as well.

The personal rating requirement will only apply to season 3 items when season 3 begins.

This is definitely possible, but we’ll see what happens when season 4 is actually close to coming out though.

I believe it was previously discussed how it would be a pattern of arena gear to go from requiring a personal rating and arena points, to no rating requirement and fewer arena points, to only honor points, then lost in the wind. All things can be subject to change though.
