Why do warriors have to be the End Game Tank?

The best tank in our guild is a Druid. Not just because of his tanking, but his contributions to the guild. As we progress into SSC/TK he is getting more depressed about his role. He knows he will not be able to contribute much in way of tanking due to gear itemization for much longer. This I think is just so wrong, on so many levels. Our guild has gone through several Prima Donna warriors; one even had his brother ninja stuff from our bank. Why did they leave? One left because he was absent 2 weeks, and wasn’t immediately main tank for our next raid upon return. Another was butt hurt because our first T5 shoulder drop wasn’t defaulted to him, it was defaulted to the Druid be cause he had contributed so much more to our progression.

Why are Druid and Pally Tanks relegated to secondary roles in end game? This really causes problems for most guilds, Having to find and pamper warriors just to keep them is just silly. Will this ever be addressed by Blizzard?

In defense of warriors though, I know plenty that do not act like Prima Donnas. We still have some good ones in our guild, thank god.

There may not be a lot of it, but upgrades are out there.

From experience, this isn't the case for Druids for all fights. With the right gear Paladins can do a fantastic job too, gear one up and give them a try, each may excel in different fights.

the problem with druid is that they aren't as good as warriors at single target tanking and they can't aoe tank like a pally so if the guild has both a pally and a warrior then druid never get to tank... A big part of the problem is that a prot warrior that isn't tanking is useless so even in fights where a druid could tank the encounter its better to use the warrior and have the druid go kitty (which produces sub par dps but its still better than a prot warrior)

Different guilds different experiences I guess. *shrug*
