Achievement Hunting: Salty You

Achievements in World of Warcraft are both a record of your accomplishments and a window into the memorable moments that await you. Every achievement tells a part of your story—but if memories aren’t tangible enough for you, a few come with rewards such as pets, titles, and even mounts. You can see why so many people love to go achievement hunting.

Come On In, the Water’s Fine

You can fish up a lot of achievements in World of Warcraft, and most of them require some dedication and effort, so it’s best to make a plan. Yes, you’ll earn the odd achievement here and there if you repeatedly drop a hook into the various waterways of Azeroth and Draenor, but there’s much more to it than that!

Diplomacy for Fish

This first achievement is surprisingly tricky. If you belong to the Alliance, you’re required to sneak into Orgrimmar and catch something. If you belong to the Horde, you’ve got to successfully fish something up in Stormwind.

You’re well advised to take it slow. Pick the spot you want to go to, and then scout that part of the city from the outside. If you simply mount up and fly into the enemy’s capital city, you’re going to have a bad time. There are well-armed guards both on the ground and in the skies, and they’re looking for intruders like you. Pay attention to their patterns and you’ll find opportunities to slip past.

Master of Coin

In Dalaran, there’s a fountain. It’s a fountain filled with coins.

You can fish for them.

Now you might ask why you should take the time required to earn A Penny for Your Thoughts and Silver in the City and There’s Gold in That There Fountain, and you’d be right to ask. The answer is, of course, a shiny new toy for your Toy Box: the Titanium Seal of Dalaran.

Angling for Accomplishments

Now you’re well on your way to earning an excellent title:

As you can see, there are many steps to becoming “Salty Yourname.” Perhaps the most challenging is the Master Angler of Azeroth achievement. It requires that you finish in first, second, or third place in the weekly Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.

That’s no small feat, and you only get one quick shot at it each week. Things get particularly interesting on PvP realms. Perhaps you should take a friend to watch your back while you cast away.

Fishing can be very rewarding, and it’s much more than a way to pass the time in Azeroth. Each achievement required for Accomplished Angler will take you places and give you stories to tell. Sure, some of them will be stories about the one that got away, but it was a really big one. The biggest fish you ever saw. . . .
