So yeah, we've been working on some improvements to our auto-detection processes. Seems like our latest improvements were... let's say "over-enthusiastic."

If you were falsely hit by this latest wave, first of all, we'd like to apologize. We obviously did not intend to inconvenience legitimate players, and something went wrong somewhere. We're still investigating to figure out what that was.

Secondly, please put in a GM ticket at your earliest convenience via the website at https://battle.net/support/help/product/wow/181/939/solution and we'll get you back in the game as soon as possible.

How is it that you guys let something like this slip though?

The theory right now - which is still a theory, like I said, we're investigating - is that it's something to do with our wintrading algorithms. It's a fine science to determine when someone is intentionally wintrading vs. when they're just trying to play, especially at the highest ratings where it's common to only have a few teams queuing at certain times of day. We're not sure yet why legit players would have been caught this time when they haven't previously.

It's probably just targeting higher rated players who have consecutive wins over the same team due to the lack of arena participants...

Possibly. We have systems in place to prevent that, but it's possible that those systems didn't do their job properly this time around.

Regardless, we'll get everyone taken care of, so please do put in a ticket if you were falsely banned. https://battle.net/support/help/product/wow/181/939/solution

We’re continuing to investigate where things broke on our end and how we can fix that for the future, but in the meantime, we’re going to automatically overturn the actions taken for any cases where we feel there’s even the slightest chance of a false positive. We’re hoping to have that finished sometime in the next couple of hours.

This means that every legitimate player should be in the clear, but it also unfortunately means that we’re about to unban a whole bunch of actual wintraders. That’s a temporary problem. We’ll be doing a deep investigation of all of these accounts, and those who are found to have been wintrading will once again face the consequences of their actions.

The silver lining for all of this is that, although this situation certainly didn’t go how we would have liked, we’ve been able to learn a LOT from the resulting investigations, and have already identified several ways we can improve things in the future. When we do our normal end-of-season disqualifications (for things like titles and mounts), we’ll be able to be much more thorough than we have been in the past.

    This should now be complete.

We've seen some reports that some rating stats have been reset for some players, and are working to correct that.
