Beta Realm Maintenance - 9/8/14

Greetings All!

The Beta realms will be coming down for maintenance shortly in order to deploy a new build. I'll be updating this thread with information and time estimates as I receive them, although due to the nature of Beta build deployments it's rare to have an exact ETA.

I'll be leaving this thread open for general discussion as long as people remain civil and follow forum rules.

I'll get the usual suspects out of the way.

No character wipe is currently scheduled for today.

The Missions/Followers system continues to see polish, but we're not always able to retroactively fix issues that occurred from a previous build (Followers X, Y, and Z going missing, for example). If your garrison got into a broken state over the last few weeks, you may find better luck with starting over.

Draenor Archaeology will be turned on soon, but I'm not sure if it'll be in this build just quite yet.

How does one start a garrison over?

Garrison progress is character-specific, so making a new character. This could be a level 100 Template on the Level 100 PvP/PvE realm, a fresh template level 90 character, or a character copied from live.

I just logged in to Battlenet and saw forum that new build is going in. Does anyone have what new version is? Mine is not downloading anything and shows 6.0.2.18833

Would I need to go to a separate site to upgrade if it does not have latest?

Your Battle.net app will automatically download the new build version once it's been deployed to Beta realms. That won't happen for at least a few hours. Nothing that you need to do in the meantime.

Still chugging along with maintenance.

How about chugging some coffee while you are at it, just make sure there is plenty of energy to get everything done? Perhaps send an intern out to Starbucks or Dunkin Gonuts, or whatever you prefer? We cannot have a tired maintenance team.

There are no Dunkin Donuts in Riverside Ca (main reason I hated living there)

Apparently I have to go over 30 miles to find one! >=(

They don't actually. They've got a really good variety though. Best day of the month for sure.

Maintenance is ongoing. I still don't have an ETA because there's a lot of things in motion right now.

It's technically possible, depending on how long it takes to upload the build to your battle.net apps. I'd say go to bed though, I wouldn't want to be the cause of sleep-deprived Blood Elves.

Realms are still down, but the build is getting deployed to your Battle.net apps now.

Btw the final client build will be 18848, not 18837. Had to make some client only changes to get this stuff to work. Once you get 18837, it's only like a 40mb upgrade to get to 18848.

When will 18848 be available? It does not currently show up.

Shortly.

Realms aren't up yet, but should be within 15-30 minutes.

Realms are up! If your Battle.net app hasn't gotten the new Beta Build (18848), close it down and re-open it.

My greatest concern is Blizzard providing a solution for those of us on PAY-by the GB users with no alternatives. The WoD download could cost us $1,000 per account in November! A simple answer to this issue is really critical!

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here. We're still doing physical copies of the game in retail stores - installing from the CD Discs should save you a lot of bandwidth (there's something like 3-4 Discs, I believe). That said if you have background downloading turned on and patch to 6.0.2 prior to Expansion Launch day, you'll already have all the data (and more) that would be on the disc, so it wouldn't save you any bandwidth.

Are you using the in-game character copy? The older method of using the web version (https://us.battle.net/account/management/ ) is no longer supported. On Beta Leveling Realm 01 or 02, click the Character Copy button, copy your account data over, and copy away!
