Here's a summary of what to look forward to. (or not)

  • New Character models (perhaps with less customization than we have now
  • Removal of Reforging. Reason given is that Blizzard wants players to be able to get new gear and play using it immediately rather than having to enchant it, gem it, and reforge it. Also, it wasn't a choice to the player really, they would go online and look up how to reforge. What Blizzard doesn't realize is that we will go online in WoD and be told what our optimal spec will be given our secondary stats which are not flexible but are rather, fixed. "Oh look, you have more mastery than crit, you'd be better off going Disc rather than Holy"
  • The primary stat on your gear changes depending on what spec you are.
  • Gear can have special bonus stats on it and gem slots, based on RNG. It WILL be impossible to have the BiS gear for all of your character's slots.
  • Garrisons (even though questing is gated behind them and they will look either human or orchish and are stuck in a permanent location) Not the player housing that they had mentioned.
  • Dungeon designs look great as well as more challenging, only 6 new ones at launch.
  • Better bag storage with smart bags, bigger stacks of mats, toy chests.
  • Better LFG user interface, making groups for practically anything, like OQ
  • The removal of flying in the Dreanor area. Even at max level, you will not be able to fly in Dreanor.
  • Capital Cities now on the Ashran PvP island, rather than the large and beautiful cities that were the original plan.
  • This is the time travel expansion, nothing you do truly matters, we will just go back in time and fix it.
  • 2 raids at launch with the new raid structure. Everything is flexible now with the exception of heroic, which is now called mythic and is stuck with 20 players
  • Real ID raiding for everyflex raid difficulty.
  • No New class
  • No new race or starting zone
  • No new talent system
  • Character boost to 90
  • Removal of combat bonuses from professions
  • Racial benefits restructured
  • Exploratory quests (You can discover quests while exploring, thanks for the update Bashiok)
  • Removal of many class spells and abilities, including less CC
  • All mounts work as ground mounts.
  • New world PvP zone where you can loot certain items from players you kill.
  • Battle rez put on a raid cooldown rather than per character
  • Guild level removal. The guild perk Cash Flow is being removed.
  • Removal of some stats, like hit and expertise. Spirit only on a few pieces of gear.
  • Stat squish
  • More dungeons to be released throughout the expansion.
  • Targets are highlighted with a colored outline, it's optional

No more text for quests that are not part of the main story

Where was this mentioned? This seems like an odd thing to be taken out

Not quite sure where this started, but it seems to have stemmed from a misunderstanding of some new quest tech we have. The new tech allows us to automatically update/add quest objectives on the fly. So, say you talk to an NPC and they send you on a quest to go investigate a haunted mansion, and when you get there you hear a spooky sound, and your quest objective automatically updates to "Investigate the spooky sound!" (replete with some slide-in graphics and cool UI shenanigans) It's not removing quest text as you interact with NPC's. It's additional ability for us to create a more emergent and fluid questing experience.

Oh, and it also allows us to introduce quests on the fly through exploration of the world. So you could come across a cave, and receive an objective for that cave (with rewards), but without an NPC standing there telling everyone to specifically go there.
