WARRIOR T5:

Head: 1227 armor
Shoulder: 1133 armor
Chest: 1510 armor
Hands: 944 armor
Feet: 1322 armor
total armor: 6136

FERAL DRUID T5:

Head: 358 armor
Shoulder: 314 armor
Chest: 429 armor
Hands: 267 armor
Feet: 382 armor
total armor: 1750

Or is it...? NO! dire bear gives +450% (!!) armor.

total stamina: 169
total armor: 7875

Now is it me.. or is that kinda strange?

As for why? Because that's how druids are designed damage mitigation-wise - primarily through armour, secondarily through dodge, and a very distant third is things like anti-hit from defense, while a warrior's mitigation is designed to be through a more straight mix of armour, dodging, parrying, anti-hit, defensive stance, and blocking.

Not surprisingly, with mitigation coming through fewer sources for bears than for warriors, the sources bears do gain mitigation through are generally better than the warrrior equivalents. If the druid mitigation sources scaled like their warrior equivalents, druid's mitigation would scale very, very, poorly compared to warriors (who had extra sources of mitigation), which would make bear druids a very poor choice for tank - and that just doesn't work if you want to have the three viable tank classes that WoW design calls for. As is, druids and warriors scale pretty much the same mitigation-wise with gear.

There may be tweaks coming, but focusing on one stat (like armour) is incredibly narrowminded. (As was the pre-TBC focusing on defense when comparing tanking capabilities between different classes, for that matter). The different tank classes have different threat mechanics and mitigation mechanics and that's really all there is to say to it.

Just throwing in a little QFT on this one, since this is pretty much the answer to the question given in the subject title of this thread. Additionally I would like to add that it is spelled "druid" and not "drood" :-)

But it's fur! FURRRR!!!! :)

If the entire game was designed with that type of logic in mind, shouldn't Gnome Warriors then be much weaker than for an example Orc Warriors, since gnomes are less strong and thus unable to lift big heavy weapons and heavy plate armour?!? ;-)
