2.4 Feral Gear Lists (was 2.3 ...)

Hi,

The lists have now been updated for patch 2.4.

Old 2.3 post:
The "final version" of Feral Gear Lists for 2.3 release can be found at:

http://www.emmerald.net/

A few key things about the release:

The burst DPS list is no more. In its stead, you will find the Cat High-Gear DPS Gear List. It's the equivalent of the High-Gear Mitigation list for DPS. Why? Looking at recent feedback, there is very little practical use for the burst damage list. It was meant primarily as a guide for PvP and soloing. Well, for PvP there is actually only one real choice: the Arena and other PvP gear. You need Resilience and you don't get it from PvE gear. For soloing, I doubt many will have gear set for that purpose alone... However, there are plenty of Ferals doing full- or part-time DPS in raid instances who will certainly find some use for the new list.

Also, at the beginning of the location list, there is a link to an Info page (e.g. http://www.emmerald.net/Cat_DPS/Index.html). Go there and you will find the stat values, gems and base attributes used to generate the particular list. While it is still impossible for you to provide your own stats, at least now you have better information to compare them against the lists' standard.

Speaking of gems, the list generator now calculates separate gem values for right color gems (+ the socket bonus) and best value gems, using the better one for the item. You can see which approach has been used for each item by looking at the sockets column; if it's overstruck/crossed out and there is a list of sockets in "[]", the additional value shows the color of gems used instead.

You might also notice the new link. I got the address and bought some space off a server to be able to host the site myself. It naturally allows a more flexible access to the site and technically allows me to publish releases when ever I want them. The normal limitations of available time etc. still apply, though.

What else? The list is still missing the items with random properties. I will work on those when I've let my pulse calm down. I also need to review the Bear DPS model since it's missing values for Expertise and Ignore Armor. Furthermore, the High-Gear lists might actually be more appropriate if I used the best epic (non-BoP) gems instead of the rare ones. And I have some ideas on improving the usability and graphical appearance, too. And of course, feel free to suggest your own ideas, as always.

I plan to do the next more significant update as we get information about 2.4 release, but I will probably do a few small things before then.

Yours Sincerely,

Emmerald
