Gruul - how does he kill dragons?

How is it that the Gronns and Gruul in particular kill dragons exactly? Seems obvious that dragons could simply fly around scorching the Gronns or whatever to death. The Gronns don't appear to do ranged effects aside from the reverberation silence thing. I don't get it.

Dragons fly in the sky laughing at Gruul on the ground. Gruul grows to size 50, grabs them from the sky and throws them at the nearest wall.
