Where can I complain if the moderators are acting unfair, capricious, or inconsistent with their enforcement of the forums rules?

If Blizzard no longer wants me to be part of the community then ban me, but please don't accuse me of violating rules that I did not violate.

I understand I can be banned for any reason Bliz decides, including BUT NOT LIMITED to violating the forum rules. That is fine then tell me; "We banned you for a few days because you annoy us."

However, saying what I did was a violation of a rule when it was not a violation, was not trolling, and was a very common and necessary action for discussion about various topics on wow. There are literally dozens of current threads that did the very same thing about dozens of different topics and I have read literally thousands over the last 4 years.

Banning me for something that does not appear to be a violation does not correct my behavior (and what was wrong that needed correcting? I still don't understand), instead it just creates a level of fear about posting anything on the forums because I am unclear what may or may nor be bannable.

Our Mod Squad mostly responds to reports initiated by using the report option found in a post. Though they will often patrol some forums if they are able to. Keep in mind that simply because it happens in other threads, doesn't mean that it is not still a violation of our Code of Conduct. Much like the fact that because others are speeding, it doesn't mean you should and it won't get you out of the ticket if you are pulled over.

Also, with these new forums, in which all posting accounts have been given a clean slate, the moderation may not be nearly as forgiving. These forums are for players to discuss the game with other players. This is supposed to be a environment in which constructive discussions and helpful advice can be found.

Looking into the action you received, Irk, it seems that you just posted a link to another site, with nothing else in the post. Our forums are not designed to be a bulletin board or referral page for others sites nor does posting a third party link encourage constructive discussions.

You would have violated the following sections of our Code of Conduct.

Cross Linking Threads
This category includes:
* Linking to threads from other forums
* Creating threads with the sole purpose of linking another post

Spamming or Trolling
This category includes:
* Excessively communicating the same phrase, similar phrases, or pure gibberish
* Creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest on the forums
* Causing disturbances in forum threads, such as picking fights, making off topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters
* Making non-constructive posts
* Abusing the Reported Post feature by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages
* Numbering a thread, IBTL, TLDR, or any other fad statements

Hopefully that helps explain the "why".
