Why are people still grinding for epicz in BC

My main is in a raiding guild. Our gm and officers have decided to pretty much put the guild in shutdown mode. We have completed every instance but sunwell plateau now. Alot of the hard core guildies decided to jump ship and quit after this decision. I'm just curious, why are they so hell bent on grinding for more epics with the expansion so close? Why not level alts, take a break from the game, or save up some gold instead?

Maybe to help them for leveling in the expansion, but maybe also just to continue accomplishing as much as they possibly can. Just because the achievement system isn't in the game yet, doesn't mean people don't already set out to accomplish things just like them.

While this may be what you are looking to do, everybody has different preferences, play schedules, etc.
