**Before reading this please know this post is based off an observational analysis and should not be taking with a grain of salt. With that said here it is.
For some retarded reason I lost my previous post so this one will most likely be less formal and maybe less informative.
Correct me if I am wrong but what I have gathered from blue posts and beta in general is that come WotLK all classes will be able to match each other in DPS and will all bring their own utilities that differentiate one another along with the skill of the player. What I've also gathered from blue posts is that they test the DPS of all classes with a wide array of gear and specs.
What I am wondering is how they determine a classes' DPS. Like if they do these tests on single targets (single target DPS), multiple targets (AOE DPS), or both. Why I am asking is if when they say every class should be close to each other do they mean single target DPS, AOE DPS, or both.
If rogues' single target DPS is meant to be matched by a mage's single target DPS then I am concerned. If mage's (Locks and other heavy aoe dps capable classes) can match us in single target they will blow us way in aoe DPS. And, this goes for all classes with strong single target but weak aoe dps capabilities (as of TBC).
I like Blizzard's philosophy of keeping classes different by having different playstyles and niches. And with that said I hope that every classes' DPS (in general) and utilities will be useful and close to each other.
Thanks for reading! And yeah this post was much shorter than the previous, I hope my concern is not confused with something I'm not trying to get across. :(
Edit: And while I feel this concern is not the most important one I think it is valid and should be acknowleged if DPS does, in fact, become lopsided on the aoe side while everyone is the same on the single target side .
