Divine Spirit - hey, Blizz - it's time
With all the changes you're implementing to all classes, it's time to to implement a trainable Divine Spirit.

Change the talented version to an extra point in IMP DS.

Thanks for listening!

Divine Spirit is one of the incentives to bringing a Discipline Priest to a group. We have no intentions to make this a base spell.

All this means is that it has already been determined raids will REQUIRE 1 disc priest.

With Death Knights added to the mix along with the nerf to VT and hunters getting group mana regen there is likely be only room for 2 priests maybe 3 priests in raid. Now 1 one of those priests HAS to be disc. So that leaves room for 1 holy and/or 1 shadow.

This is not about incentive. Grace is an incentive. Imp DS is a requirement and not a fun requirement.

So start using disc now everyone because it's the only way you know for sure you will get in raids.

You can argue that any class or spec is "required," actually that's just what we want. We want you to feel "wow, there are so many good specs I just don't know what to bring!" The more you feel that way, the better job we're doing.

And like other players have mentioned, if you feel it's so offensive to be discipline or to bring a discipline Priest to a raid, you can at least craft some "spirit scrolls" via Inscription.

Um so it's totally ok that our 21 point talent is an "incentive" to bring a disc priest, but it's also totally ok that it can be replaced by a scroll?

.....

I'm sorry, but that is the single most illogical set of statements I've ever had the misfortune of reading in blue text. It is either so good it becomes worthy of a 21 pt investment by a priest and therefore so strong it can not be replaced by a cheap consumable or it's not.

Frankly I find your statement that anyone is even hinting that it would be "offensive" to be or bring a disc priest both insulting to us and completely irrelevant to our argument. Just because shadow priests choose to be shadow they should be locked out of a buff that is supposed to be integral to all priests? The same with holy? Spirit is our stat, but only if you are disc? People have been making logical arguments as to why regular non-improved DS should be a trainable spells and we get blown off by a flippant comment?

Note that the highest scroll in the expansion so far is for 25 Spirit, Divine Spirit is currently 50. The scrolls are intended as a compromise if you don't have the buff from the Priest, not a replacement/complete alternative.

Koraa: there is http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27501 in LIVE for 30 spirit.

I'm not sure what you're looking at, but the max-rank scroll is Scroll of Spirit VIII = 80 spirit. The max-rank one currently in the Beta is http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?item=33460, 40 spirit.

If the eventual goal is to have a ratio like Live, where Divine Spirit is 50 spirit and the max-rank scroll (world-drop) is 30, that's one thing. But if the max-rank of Divine Spirit is 80 spirit and there are (as suggested by data-mining) crafted VIII scrolls for 80 , that's completely ludicrous, and helps explain why we are upset.

I talked to the designer who does Inscription and was told that if we do a "spirit scroll" it won't exceed ~75% of what Divine Spirit would be.

Regarding scrolls similar to other abilities (mark of the wild, arcane intellect, etc.) those are still in design.
