The real problem with hunters in arenas is not whether or not they are competitive. It's that the wildly held perception of them is that they are not competitive, and Blizzard has done nothing to address this.
Now, you'll probably ask, why should they? Well, according to GC, Blizzard wants hunters to be good in Arenas and made changes to the class with this in mind. Additionally, those changes could not be fully analyzed in beta due to a smaller pool of players to observe. This has left Blizzard in a state of “wait and see” in regards to hunters. GC’s famous quote “Do we think they will continue to be underpowered? We don't know yet.” GC’s belief is that it will take many, many games to fully evaluate the changes to hunters. Therefore, it would be in Blizzard’s best interest that as many hunters as possible compete in as many Arena contests as possible so these changes can be fully evaluated and balanced. Right?
And herein lies the problem. Pretty much the entire player community agrees that hunters are not competitive in Arenas and that that will not change in Season 5. Hunters are continuing to reroll alts to use in Arenas and those of us who might like to compete in Arenas with a hunter, see no point in giving it a go when even Blizzard can’t assure us there is a chance of fair competition. What Blizzard is left with then is a small number of hunters in Arenas, which means a small pool to test the new changes, and therefore results similar to Beta, which GC already said were not sufficient due to the small size.
Long story short, GC, please pass along this challenge to anyone and everyone at Blizzard. I challenge anyone at Blizzard to come here and make a blue post saying that all classes are viable and competitive in Arenas. I’m adding all classes because I know other classes feel left out of Arenas as well, and also because I don’t care about specs. I’m talking classes here.
So there you go GC, I for one see no point in entering an Arena with any class until someone, anyone at Blizzard comes here and tells me all classes can compete.
