Q u o t e:
Sharpening Stones and also Wizard Oils have been discontinued. While they were something nice to use once in a while for most people for many raid guilds they were simply another burden to the cost of raiding. They also caused some issues in that they only helped certain classes and took away some of the uniqueness of other classes who were able to imbue their weapons with temporary enchants such as rogues and warlocks.
I am not going dispute this or even give my opinion on whether or not this is a good idea. If anyone else disagrees with this, please post your opinion in the other thread. What I simply want to know is if Blizzard moves forward with this, can you please not allow previous Sharpening Stones to not work on level 80 required weapons? Up to 79 is fine for leveling.
Sometimes I think Blizzard doesn't have very good foresight in regards to actual raiding circumstances. You say you want to lower the burden on players raiding, but all this does is increase it. Any serious raider will always do everything that is possible to maximize DPS or efficiency. As it is right now, all this change does is force level 80 players to consistently farm in Outlands to maximize DPS and efficiency in Northrend. Do you not see the major flaw in this?
As someone who dual wields, 2 sharpening stones on my blades at all times is equivalent of like having 2 extra open sockets in my level 80 gear to socket with level 80 epic gems. Which serious raider isn't going to be doing this? Now if Blizzard finally realizes the major flaw in this and does what I and many others are proposing, I hope the only exception would be Consecrated Sharpening Stones. Those should still be available to be used on level 80 required weapons considering they are limited (2 years between the last 2 events?) and can not be farmed on daily basis.
