it's been a 5 day wait
but it's downloading
can't wait to see the new druid forms.. it's what i'm most excited about.. till they fix balance pvp issues.
If you are having problems getting the PTR to download, do the following:
Go into the folder you installed the PTR to
Select the Green WoW application.exe file and click it instead of the launcher.
Log into the ptr as you would the normal game
The download should start.
Failed Patch Error: Please Try Again Later:
This error sometimes occur, I am not sure why.
Try entering your log in details again.
If the error perisits, simply close down the game window and start it up again.
Repeat till it works.
Launcher Error: Download Not Authorised:
You should not see this message any longer, if you do then it means no PTR is available for download which means it is disabled from Blizzard US headquarters.
Faster Transfers:
With fewer users available it can sometimes be quicker to download directly from the US servers.
To do this, you have to disable Peer-to-Peer download as follows:
On your blizzard downloader window, select view
Select preferences
Un-tick the peer-to-peer download.
This may cause your download to speed up if it is going very slowly.
However when there is a certain optium number of people connecting with you through the tracker to get the patch, peer-to-peer can be much faster, so in this case you will need to make sure the box is ticked.
Whatever you download speeds or start times. Good luck and enjoy the PTR. The servers are live and ready for play by all accounts in so far. Please remember, the PTR server is hosted in California USA, basically in the same building the developers, artist and team that work on the game work. THey use similar servers to this to test changes they make in a long number of runs.
If you are downloading from EU, naturally your speed will be a bit slower than US gamers might be reporting, despite your connection.

Downloading at -1%
This is not an error, you are seeing the -1 % because of latency issues or likely the server is been flooded with download requests, so they will take you a lot longer.
Battle-Net User Accounts
Battle-net user accounts can log in to both the game and the ptr to copy characters and download the PTR
There is 1 known issues with battlenet user accounts, and several users so far seem to have no problems by reverting to their OLD account.
Battlenet user accounts are subject to the same restrictions as all users. You need to have had an active account a few weeks before the PTR goes live to be eligible to log onto the PTR. This may explain any prepaid issues.
[Do not worry if you did not have an active account , this list is updated quite regularly and often when new PTR builds are applied. You may simply have to wait t ill the next ptr patch to be able to use your account]

As far as i'm aware, if you merged/attached your old account to a battle.net email log in, the PTR won't let you login.I remember the same thing happened on the live realms when battle.net account merging became active. You could not log onto wow with the new details. They actually did a full EU server rolling re-start.

Battle.net users are now able to log onto the PTR.
Battle.net users should now have access to ALL PTR realms
*You should no longer have "server login busy" errors
*also do remember if you did not have a valid or acitve account a few weeeks before the PTR was launched you may not have access, regardless of whether you are a battle.net user or not. THis has always been the case as they begin work on the PTR quite some time before it goes live,and it caches all the active users at the time. Do not despair, you will gain access to the PTR in a subsequent patch. The PTR tends to patch a lot faster than live.
*also note that if your account was active when the cache took place, and isn't now, you will have accessto the PTR
