The public test realms are now live. The below text will be updated shortly. Enjoy!

There currently is no PTR available, so if you are trying to access the PTR or install the Test client and failing, this is why. This is also why you may be seeing the "This download is not authorized" message, and possibly experiencing other errors too. If we intended the Test client to be available, this kind of message should not be displayed and the process of setting up the Test client should be, in theory, straightforward.

Because of the differences in timezones, the PTR may become available before this message is updated. Most likely this will be in the late US daytime, which is while most of Europe sleeps.

Regarding character copy, we advise you to not use this if it becomes available, until you are certain the PTR is live and you have been able to create a level 1 character successfully. Also, you might like to ensure that someone a bit more brave than you has had a successful character copy on the live PTR before you try it also. These are of course simply suggestions to help you avoid fustration, and you can of course disregard as you see fit, at your own risk.

In the interests of keeping this forum relatively tidy, please reply to this thread if you have a remaining question, instead of adding yet another "Is it live yet?" or "I can't access the PTR - WHY?" thread. Thanks everyone! :-)

As usual, we advise waiting to copy characters until the PTR is live and proven fully functional. There are no guarantees any copy made before this time is going to work (and history shows us that this can also be the case after the PTR is live, due to the nature of PTR patch testing!).

Just a quick reply to a few questions. No premades are not always available, but as I've said previously it is best not to expect them -- then you can get pleasantly surprised if they do come.

Regarding character copies, if you've copied already unfortunately no there's no guarantee that the amount of copies will be reset when the PTR is up. It might be, but again I caution you to expect it not to be, to help trying to avoid disappointment. Veteran PTR testers have learned, sometimes through bad experience, to hold off until not only the PTR is live, but until other less cautious people have posted that they've had successful copies.

And for the US fans I noticed on a bluetracker site who'd been reading and wondering why the US forums didn't have a topic like this. Well, luckily for all of us, the PTR realms are in the same place and I'm pretty sure have always gone live in all regions at the same time. Irrespective of where on Earth the information comes, we're all part of the same Community Team.

I know it is frustrating seeing people posting up multiple threads asking why the PTR won't work or why they can't install, but I'd like to request that if you do see these threads and feel like replying, that you take a bit of care not to be abusive or break the forum rules in your response. I know it can seem like the information is easy to find, especially in the stickies, but this doesn't mean people don't legitimately miss this information or misinterpret it -- we're all human, well, apart from us Crocolisks. ;-) Thanks everyone.

Initial post updated with a bit more mention of error messages, since stating the PTR was not live did not seem to be enough to explain why people were unable to install. Hopefully the new text will help somewhat. :-)
