There will be a new build available to test on the PTR once they are available again.

Q u o t e:
Will this hopefully fix clients from crashing rapidly from logging in?

Can you start a new thread, and paste the error log you are receiving into the post please. The log will be located in the errors folder of World of Warcraft Public Test.

Realms should be coming back up, and be available for testing again. We're investigating the reports of being stuck at handshaking right now.

New PTR build is 0.1.0.9742

Q u o t e:

For some reason I'm unable to download the patch via Downloader. Whenever I start the PTR client Launcher, the download screen (with the first paragraph of the patchnotes) shows for a second and then it disappears again, showing the regular Launcher news etc. There's no patch downloading in the background, I made sure the Downloader Preferences are set correctly, too, just to make sure it's not related to that.

Using the Mac client btw.

I'll look into this issue as well.

Re: PTR Maintenance - 3/30/09
It looks like people that are getting stuck at handshaking haven't had their clients patched up to the correct build yet. We're working on getting this issue ironed out, and have a possible work around for anyone getting this error:

Run the PTR launcher located at "World of Warcraft Public Test\Launcher.exe" several times. If the launcher doesn't start to download a patch, close it and reopen it again. This should eventually get the patch to download.

Again, we're working on getting this issue fixed and we appreciate your patience.

Q u o t e:
I'm having trouble logging in, and getting an error that the game is unable to validate it's version. I have a battle.net account with a mobile authenticator, if that matters.

Try using your normal account logins, at this time battle.net accounts are not used for the PTR.

Q u o t e:
I'm getting an error message:

The patch "base\CREATURE\NorthrendFrostWurm\NorthrendFrostWurm0101-00.anim" could not be applied. (CRC mismatch: expected 0xcd670430, actual 0xd89799be.)

Any one else?

Also repair doesn't work.

That looks like a different issue, please create new threads for bugs.

Hmm, just tried that, and I'm getting a bad password error. My password hasnt' changed, I wonder if it's because of the mobile authenticator? It's an 8 digit string, instead of the keyfob's 6 digits.

Whatever login info you would have used ~2-3 months ago is what you'll need to use to access the PTR. If you had a keyfob authenticator at that point, you'd need to use that to login to the PTR.

Q u o t e:

Crud. I gave my keyfob to my mother-in-law, and she's now using it on her account. Is there any way I can have it removed from my PTR account, or am I now locked out of PTR testing?

You may still be able to use the keyfob because the PTR doesn't know it was removed. But if that doesn't work, I don't have any way to remove the authenticator from your account on the PTR.

Re: PTR Maintenance - 3/30/09

Q u o t e:
I found my issue had to do with Vista. When I made sure to set the 'compatibility mode' for the launcher.exe in the test folder, and also did not use the 'show launcher' option, it started to work.

Admittedly I did two things at once so I can't verify which one was the secret, but it did work when I did this on my Vista system.

Good Luck!

More than likely, you just simply won the patch lottery that time when you connected. I could be wrong, but we're seeing this issue on more than just Vista computers so it's a long shot.

Re: PTR Maintenance - 3/30/09
Since I'm not seeing a lot more chatter about this, I'm assuming that people are getting the patch ok. We're almost done working out the few kinks there were with the patch downloads. If anyone is having other problems, please post in this thread.
