Paladin's don't want Mp5 on any of their PVP gear.
The games go too quick for any use from mp5.
We only needed and wanted Mp5 in season 4 because of 12 minute mana draining matches. Those types of matches are a thing of the past. Times have changed, and I feel the gear should reflect that.
Personally, I have no problem with a little mp5 as long as there's also a little crit or haste, but mp5 without crit or haste is a no-no because that stat can't help me pvp better, but I'm more tolerant than some others, and I could imagine many paladins that take this game even more seriously than me saying "no mp5 at all."
The set pieces are fine. However, all of the offset pieces have mp5 and no crit. Given that we even have more talents than before that rely on crit, and that Divine Plea is now our primary mana regen mechanism, mp5 does nothing for us in PVP. Absolutely nothing. If this doesn't get changed, you won't see many top rated holy paladins wear the offset items if they have access to the nax 25 items.
During beta, there was a thread in the "Itemization forum" about mp5 on paladin pvp gear. At the time, Divine Plea's drawbacks were so great that it wasn't a useful mana regen talent for holy paladins, and in addition no one had any idea that Infusion-of-light crits would be so important to *just keeping alive* in arena. Note: Infusion of Light relies on crit.
Consequently, during beta, we asked the itemization developer to "put just a little mp5 on our gear - everything in moderation." He or she posted in the "Itemization Feedback" thread that what he or she would instead do was to make the set pieces use crit and the offset pieces use mp5. At the time, during beta, most posters in that thread, including myself, thought this might be fine. Now, with the way hitpoints and armor have have not scaled with non-crit damage, crit and INT (and haste) on our gear is vastly more important that mp5.
What I'm getting at is that I think there is mp5 on the offset pieces because of our feedback during the beta. Our feedback was honest for the time it was given, but circumstances and talents have changed, and as such, we have new feedback. :)
