If a dungeon group falls apart after 1-2 bosses, it's not nearly as big of a deal as if a raid group falls apart after 5 bosses of Ulduar. If the group wants to continue it and somebody from another realm (who can't really contact you easily) beat you to it and cleared it with their friends, that would probably leave you a bit upset. This is just one example that came to me off the top of my head.

Sure, there could be ways to resolve this with a variety of rules, but we will see how things go for now. A lot of raids are able to happen once people are found so we mainly just want to make it easier to find people for now.

How is this any different than cross-realm raids?

I guarantee you that cross-realm raids will lead to more raids completed successfully (and happily) than ever before. The issue you brought up is a small one, just like the one GC mentioned, and holding back the advantages of the many, because of the small and few disadvantages that will rarely occur is quite silly, you must admit.

I am pretty sure allowing heroics to be run without a lockout through random heroic is a little easier to swallow then allowing people to run raids non-stop with a random raid feature, if that doesn't happen then you are dealing with up to 25 people and raid lockout issues galore. For now we want to see how the dungeon system pans out and go from there before inviting more issues like this.

Well, you've got that system that prevents people from queueing for dungeons they don't have the appropriate gear for, so why not expand that for the raid system and give raid leaders the option to require that everyone attempting to join the pug for the raid already has the achievement for clearing that dungeon. If 25 people who have all individually cleared a raid are unable to do so in a pug, then they probably deserve to have their raid ID wasted for the week.

A lot of people could easily leave early because they didn't have the 2-3 hours available to go through it all. Once a few people leave a couple others easily could. Or maybe one wipe happens one the 3rd boss and it does happen in bugs where one wipe leads to people bailing. Raid IDs then vanish into 5+ other realms which is probably an issue.

here is your fix, instead of tracking weekly raid IDs, track which bosses that player has killed for the week instead. That way they can do the same raid more than once if it falls apart. If they kill a boss, they cannot get loot from it again that week.

Yeah, I mentioned previously that it's possible things could be solved with an onslaught of rules and such, but that will likely invite a variety of new issues too and right now we are focused on making the dungeon system work right.
