Out of the all the people that I work and play with only 2 of them changed over to battle.net account. Within a week BOTH accounts were hacked. The players lost their characters. Lost their gear. Blizz took a week to restore, but couldn't restore achievements and events they had done. And before I get a bunch of people who respond and say things like "get an anti-virus" or "make a new email account", the point is that there ARE security concerns and this change to battle.net is fine for some people, but not everyone wants to join. The option has been out there and there are still a lot of people who didn't join for a REASON. No one likes being forced into anything. Not at work, and not at their hobbies.
I have played this game for almost 5 years. I know they will not miss my subscription fee. But if I am gonna lose it all anyway, quitting isn't as big a deal. I watched blizzcon and I was excited about the upcoming expansion. I am responsible for quite a few of the reservations for the upcoming expansion where I work, speaking highly of blizzard seemingly turning a corner and truly listening to what people had to say about their game, but this topic has caused issue for some time and has legitimate concerns to which blizzard has not even begun to recognize. So I was wrong about blizz turning the corner.
No one likes to be forced into anything. Anything. But you are asking us to put our account security in jeopardy just so you can advertise your other games to us. Believe me, we all know about your other games. I know that others will quit as well, and that you won't miss us. I was good run for me and I can't complain too much about the time I spent here as I have met many new friends and had great times, but it is over. If you can force us to do this, who knows what you will force us to do next. That just isn't a ride I won't a ticket for.
Peace.
