Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Throne
With the legendary heroes Highlord Tirion Fordring of the Argent Crusade and Highlord Darion Mograine of the Knights of the Ebon Blade joining forces to lead the charge through the fortified gates of Icecrown Citadel, members of the Horde directed by High Overlord Saurfang, and Alliance marshalled by King Varian Wyrnn, will be called to end the reign of the Lich King once and for all. It may be the greatest challenge our most courageous adventurers have yet seen. With animosity between the Horde and Alliance building, and the most potent forces of the Scourge standing between the front gates of the citadel and the Frozen Throne, the task is nigh impossible.

Let us take you through our latest preview, Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Throne, the upcoming epic raid dungeon in patch 3.3: http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/3p3/icecrown-raid.xml

Actually, I don't think there's gonna be 4 versions of the same instance. It's not 100% clear, but it looks to me like you'll be able to switch on the fly between normal and hard versions of encounters - kind of like Ulduar, where you can do FL normal but then XT hard, but with just a toggle on the UI rather than fight mechanics.

Though obviously there's still going to be hard modes - I approve of this, unlike the person I'm quoting.

Also, looks great!

You are correction, at least with how we currently plan to do it (things can still change!) - the plan is for 2 raid ID lockouts, not 4.

Sorry for any confusion on this.

Can this switch be flipped back and forth over the course of the raid progression? Like, can we do Boss 1 2 and 3 hard mode, 4 5 6 easy mode, and then for whatever reason do boss 7 hard mode again? Or is it all or nothing every week?

Assuming everything goes as planned, you can switch it back and forth as much as you like. Encounter 1 on hard, 2 on normal, 3 on hard, 4 on normal, etc.

In effect it works out similar to Ulduar but it's with a much more clear method in the UI as opposed to the fairly confusing process of figuring out some encounter mechanics just to activate it.

Any info on emblems yet? I just want to know if emblems of triumph are going to be as easily obtainable in 3.3.0 as conquest is right now. I'm assuming if they create a new emblem that will drop in ICC, it's possible that they'll make it to where you get 2 from the daily heroic, 1 triumph from daily dungeon, and then triumph emblems drop from bosses in heroic and ToC10/25. I'm just speculating here because that's what they did with Ulduar, you can still get emblems of conquest from there and heroics. Basically just think of this as an emblem progression theory.

Or perhaps they could at least make it to where we can buy 1 emblem of triumph for maybe 5 emblems of conquest, I'd gladly pay that because I farm heroics all the time.

P.S. I only brought this up because of the !*%#head elites who won't let us do raids with them. I'm not too fond of gear checkers because they have no idea that it's all skill-based. If they don't make it easier to get emblems of triumph in the next major content patch, I don't think I'll ever get to stare Arthas in the eye as he begs for mercy in ICC. (Seriously, I couldn't even get in a Naxx25 raid because the gear checker was a douchebag, saying my item lvl 213+ gear wasn't "good enough")

General reminder: Things can still change.

The current plan is to make Emblems of Triumph the "base" of emblems so everything that drops Emblems of Conquest would be changed to Triumph and then the new raid content would drop the new highest emblem along with things like the heroic daily and such.
