[Feedback] Pirates Day
Alright, so another holiday where there's a fun little costume for the enjoyment of all. All meaning everyone who doesn't happen to be a druid.

Noggenfogger, savory deviate delight, orb of deception, halloween wand, orb of the sin'dorei and now pirates day. Blizzard, can you stop making events and items that specifically exclude a specific class from enjoying them? Or instead of not making these very fun items, here is another idea: Let druids use them! A long time ago you nerfed our ability to use these items because it was "unfair" (even though that was back when we only had one viable spec, and no druid would ever have been in bear or cat form anyway).

Enemy buffs are clearly shown, the druid form buff images are incredibly distinctive. It's not a mystery what form we are in to the opposite faction. It's not an advantage to not have to look like a tree or cat or bear anymore by ANY means. Stop making these items and events completely worthless to us. Every single one of our specs forces us to be in a form to do our job, other classes get to change their appearance as their gear changes, they get to look at cool new weapons and at least don't have to stare at the same thing for every second that they are doing anything besides sitting in town.

I'm aware that glyphs will allow minimal customization (at the expense of real benefits like increased buff time and such apparently). However it would still be great if we could actually make use of the numerous items and events in the game that change your appearance. It's not an OP advantage, it just lets us look a little different and not have to look at the same thing for another entire expansion.

Even if allowing us to use these isn't going to be implemented tomorrow or before wotlk, could you say if blizz will ever allow us to use these items IN FORMS or make use of these events in the future? Or are druids doomed to watch everyone else have fun during the halloween event and pass on every appearance-altering item that ever drops? Because if you're never going to let us use items and buffs like this in forms, you might as well make any new items that are along the lines of orb of desception/sindorei impossible for druids to use so people who actually can use them will be the ones getting them instead of the ill-fated druid who happens to be there when the item drops.

Edit: Thanks for all the off topic comments that have nothing to do with what this thread is about. And by thanks I mean go away.

It's not a malicious omission; the reason why these buffs do not work with forms is that they operate on the same level as shapeshifts. It's a base mechanics issue, and thus not precisely simple to change or include druids in their forms. We're not unaware of the druid concerns regarding cosmetic appearance change buffs like this, but I can't give you a definitive answer on whether or not buffs like these will function with druid forms in the future.

I understand it's frustrating, particularly when forms are so integral to how you play the game, but were it a simple inclusion we would have done it long ago.

There's actually a simple solution to this. Remove the druid iniate abilty to remove debuffs when they shapeshift. They will be able to keep any costume and cool holiday buff and they will be happy right? I know every one who's not a druid will agree.

This isn't what's happening to the buffs. I explained it above, but I'll reiterate:

Costumes are shapeshifts. Druid forms are also shapeshifts. Druid forms are higher priority shapeshifts, naturally, because they affect gameplay, so they override cosmetic costume buffs. This is a mechanics issue. We can't revert it to when it worked differently. It's something we certainly know Druids aren't happy about, but at the moment, there is no simple solution.

EDIT: I should mention that I do get what you're truly getting at, but I'd rather avoid misinformation if at all possible. :P

Okay, so here' one I noticed...

I switched my tracking spell and it removed the costume...

As a hunter, I have upwards of 20 tracking spells, which I change quite frequently...

And since last I checked tracking doesn't shapeshift me into anything, I find this downright unacceptable...

Explain that one. :P

EDIT:

Okay, so I did some testing, and I can't manage to duplicate the effect now, but it DID happen...

I was flying out of Shatt at the time, I believe on a swift purple wyvern, and I switched from track Humanoids to track Minerals, and it removed my costume.

That wasn't tracking. Did you happen to get a zone buff, like the one in Terokkar, when it dropped?

I've read the reports and we're looking into that particular instance of things but as this event only lasts one day I don't believe it will be fixed this year.
